On 24 January, 2018 in the framework of the Project "Dignified Old Age" (funded by EU) was held Civil Forum on Aging Problems.
The forum was attended by the main specialists of the Committee on Healthcare and Social Affairs at the Parliament of Georgia - Mr. Nikoloz Varnazishvili and Ms. Maia Esebua, the representative of Ministry of HealthCare - Mrs. Tamar Gvilava, representatives of Bolnisi municipality - Natia Tsimakuridze, Lela kvirashvili and Patman Tvildiani, representatives of Gori Municipality – Lia Chlachidze and Natia Omadze, representative from Public Defender's Office - Irene Oboladze, as well as representatives of international organizations - Ketevan Elizbarashvili - EU, Anna Tskitishvili - UNFPA, Giorgi Arsenidze - ASB, Pensioners Union and representatives of the press. The project staff and beneficiaries from Shida and Kvemo Kartli region were also participating in the forum.
The forum started with a presentation of the project, what the purpose of the project, where it worked and what kind of services it offered to beneficiaries.
The invited guests and experts talked about the problems of aging in Georgia.
The forum continued with a work in groups. As a result of the group works the joint recommendations were developed.
Recommendations to the Ministry of Health:
• Increase the number of emergency cars in the regions
• More Program on Health Care (Oncology and Other)
• Deliver more medicines
• Inclusion of such diseases in the program which is not considered today
• Outpatient clinics (not enough)
