On September 7th, 2017 a Public discussion “Provision of pensions in the context of armed conflict: how to protect civilians in the non-government controlled areas” organized by Norwegian Refugee Council was held in Kyiv, Ukraine. The event was aimed at facilitating the exchange of experience, acquiring knowledge about good practices from similar contexts (such as Georgia, Serbia, etc.), increasing understanding of the international obligations of Ukraine in that regard (particularly as a member of the Council of Europe) and providing a forum for dialogue between the Government, civil society and humanitarian community about possible solutions in the Ukrainian context.
From IDP Women’s association “Consent” Marina Pochkhua was invited as an expert to attend the event. She talked about Georgia’s experience on procedures for payment of allowances to citizens from non-controlled areas.
Minister of Social Policy of Ukraine; first Deputy State Minister for Reconciliation and Civic Equality, Members of the Parliament of Ukraine; representatives of the European Council, international and national NGOs have participated in the event.
